FerozepurForACause : Messages : 89-118 of 118

Second is not specific to ferozepur but is related to our traditions and culture in general. The purpose of this trip was to attend my brothers marriage. Marriage was relatively simple but was full of all traditional festivities and really enjoyable event. However what followed after wards was not so enjoyable.There was constant stream of beggars at our door steps constantly bargaining on how much they want to take as "badhai". Well my ideas about how to deal with this situation are pretty clear so I wont go into details. What left me thinking were the "hijdas" and the harassment they cause. It left a number of questions circling my mind like:

1) How does a person becomes a 'Hijda'? Is it genetic or something else?

2) Why do they have to resort to such activities to make their living? Why they can't do normal jobs? After all their limbs and their minds(I guess) are just like normal people. Is it because of societies discrimination against them they can't get regular jobs?

3) If the cause of becoming a hijda is a genetic disease then how come they live with people similar to them and not their regular family(read parents). After all it is just a disease. How can a parent give their child to somebody else whom they even know won't take a good care or their kid. I have seen parents taking very good care of kids with acute mental or physical problems where they even know the kids situation will grow worse as he or she grows up and not improve. yet they take care of them till end.

I'll just leave this discussion open at this. There are a lot of ways we can work towards making our communities better places to live. There are a lot of causes we can pick up. Well although this is not the one I have picked up to make a difference. I don't even know enough about it but yet I think this is probably one of the important issues. If anybody has any insight into this issue I'll definitely like to know more and will definitely like to help if anybody is working towards this.

I had a chat with Surinder today. Here are some more details about it:

Ishika is currenty getting treated at DMC Ludhiana under doctor Sandeep's supervision. Surinder will keep us updated on progress. I haven't seen replies to the mail I sent out on Monday but I am hoping that at least some of you did call Surinder and tried to help. If you did then please tell others so that they are encouraged to do the same, If you haven't yet , I think it is still not too late.

Ishika Gandhi, a 7 year old child from Fazilka is suffering from Cancer. She is a student of 1^st standard at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Fazilka. As per doctors, if she will not be treated now, she just left with 20 days to survive. Ishika is the only daughter of her parents and his family income is less than 2000/- per month. For them it is difficult to afford his regular treatment. Now we came to know that now treatment of this deasease is possible after a Operation in which they change the bonemarroe And This Operation will cost about 10 Lakh. I had a chat with Surinder today. Here are some more details about it:

Ishika is currenty getting treated at DMC Ludhiana under doctor Sandeep's supervision. Surinder will keep us updated on progress. I haven't seen replies to the mail I sent out on Monday but I am hoping that at least some of you did call Surinder and tried to help. If you did then please tell others so that they are encouraged to do the same, If you haven't yet , I think it is still not too late.

As per doctors, if she will not be treated now, she just left with 20 days to survive. Ishika is the only daughter of her parents and his family income is less than 2000/- per month. For them it is difficult to afford his regular treatment. Now we came to know that now treatment of this deasease is possible after a Operation in which they change the bonemarroe And This Operation will cost about 10 Lakh. I had a chat with Surinder today. Here are some more details about it:

Ishika is currenty getting treated at DMC Ludhiana under doctor Sandeep's supervision. Surinder will keep us updated on progress. I haven't seen replies to the mail I sent out on Monday but I am hoping that at least some of you did call Surinder and tried to help. If you did then please tell others so that they are encouraged to do the same, If you haven't yet , I think it is still not too late.

Ishika Gandhi, a 7 year old child from Fazilka is suffering from Cancer. She is a student of 1^st standard at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Fazilka. As per doctors, if she will not be treated now, she just left with 20 days to survive. Ishika is the only daughter of her parents and his family income is less than 2000/- per month. For them it is difficult to afford his regular treatment. Now we came to know that now treatment of this deasease is possible after a Operation in which they change the bonemarroe And This Operation will cost about 10 Lakh. I had a chat with Surinder today. Here are some more details about it:

Ishika is currenty getting treated at DMC Ludhiana under doctor Sandeep's supervision. Surinder will keep us updated on progress. I haven't seen replies to the mail I sent out on Monday but I am hoping that at least some of you did call Surinder and tried to help. If you did then please tell others so that they are encouraged to do the same, If you haven't yet , I think it is still not too late.

For them it is difficult to afford his regular treatment. Dear All,

Ishika Gandhi, a 7 year old child from Fazilka is suffering from Cancer. She is a student of 1^st standard at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Fazilka. As per doctors, if she will not be treated now, she just left with 20 days to survive. Ishika is the only daughter of her parents and his family income is less than 2000/- per month. For them it is difficult to afford his regular treatment. Now we came to know that now treatment of this deasease is possible after a Operation in which they change the bonemarroe And This Operation will cost about 10 Lakh. If together we all can do something to save this girl child, it will really be Nobel cause. If interested to extend any form of help then please contact Mr Surinder at 09877003034.
