Hi John:
You wrote – “Even Cameron White who cant get in the Australian Team is getting
paid more than a lot of the so called Indian stars” I don’t know, who is this
“Cameron White”? Maybe, he is some local Australian player (I don’t care)! But,
your captain Ricky Ponting is definitely getting much lesser money than what
17-year Ishant is getting. Ishant has even surpassed Brett Lee, Shane Warne and
Glenn McGrath. Tell me, who else is your super-star!!
But, I am glad Symonds has been offered great money! There is an old saying –
if you offer only peanuts, you get only monkeys :-)

win games off his batting or bowling, he bowls medium pace or spin.
Indians should have immense respect for Symonds for his incredible
talent and not taunt him as a monkey... Even Cameron White who cant get
in the Australian Team is getting paid more than a lot of the so called

If an Australian player racially taunted an Indian I bet the Indians

And the strange thing is India is probably the most racist country in
the world. The Indian Caste System is pure 100% racism.... I have Indian
friends who tell me their fathers wont let them marry a person from a
"lower caste"... Unbelievable!

I felt it to be quite inappropriate to pay such huge amounts to
Australian players who have the least respect for values of the game and
treat other players like crap. The worst is Symonds getting more than
all of our favourite stars. The same guy who said it irritates him to
see the Indian players doing ads and got aggressive when our player
admired an Aussie bowler. Misbehaviour may be acceptable for some in the
heat of the game, but it would be quite annoying if they keep doing it
for decades without having any sense of guilt and justify their acts
fiercely.
Shame on Deccan Chronicle management for banking on INDIAN cricket fans
to pay hefty amounts to those who have little or no respect for us
"INDIANS".
The first thing I'm going to do now is to un-subscribe Deccan Chronicle
and practice monkey taunts for the forthcoming IPL Hyderabad team's
match. Monkey taunt was never a racist gesture in India and even if
people disagree, they got to admit that it is acceptable if the term
"bastard" is a friendly one( as per the Aussie players)

I think, it is otherwise!
Australians should take a moment, and think about this – they have been
“purchased” by money power of a country whom they though they could bully
forever. Not any more!
I think, we should feel proud about getting Pointing and his boys to play in
our courtyard on our Terms & Conditions. Symonds’ family and friends who were
deeply “hurt” by Bhajji’s words, will now cheer for Team Hyderabad.
Welcome to India!

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced its
much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) bid winners for the
respective teams. GMR group has won the bid for Delhi team whereas UB
group's Vijay Mallya bagged the contract for Bangalore team. Ness
Wadia takes control of Chandigarh team and Mukesh Ambani has been
declared the bid winner for Mumbai team. Bollywood king, Shah Rukh
Khan has been given charge for Kolkata team.
India cements hold the rights for Chennai team and Deccan Chronicle
has Hyderabad. `Investors' in cricket have been given rights for
Jaipur team.
The following are the bid amounts and winners for various teams in the
Indian Premier League:
Vijay Mallya won the bid for the Bangalore team for $111.6 million.
Shah Rukh Khan won the bid for the Kolkata team for $75.09 million.
GMR Holdings won the bid for the Delhi team for $84 million.
Mukesh Ambani won the bid for the Mumbai team for $111.9 million.
India Cements won the bid for the Chennai team for $91 million.
Deccan Chronicle won the bid for the Hyderabad team for $107.01 million.
Emerging Media won the bid for the Jaipur team for $67 million.
Ness Wadia won the bid for the Mohali team for $76 million, reportedly.
The auction includes players' contracts and team franchisee.
According to the IPL tender document, the franchisee revenue is
divided into two sections. The first is centralised revenue under
which falls the title sponsorship, media right and official umpires'
sponsorships.
The second is franchisee revenue which primarily deals with team
naming rights, team shirt sponsorship and ticketing revenues. Based on
the calculations of the media rights, some of the bidders have reached
the conclusion on Wednesday evening that earnings from the sale of
different rights are not going to exceed more than $8 million (Rs 320
crore).
"It is natural for any business to break even in a couple of years.
IPL is a big venture and it's certainly going to do wonder to the
world of cricket," a top IPL official told TOI on Wednesday. If that
happens, Indian cricket will surely benefit from the 10-year event on
and off the field.
In the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) which starts from April
18, BCCI has decided to pay them and some other senior cricketers
10-15% more money than the highest auctioned player of the Twenty20 event.
Sources said BCCI has shortlisted five cricketers - Sachin Tendulkar,
Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh - who will be
called "icon players" and will be the highest paid players in the
league. They will not be auctioned if they have a city team.
IPL chairman Lalit Modi confirmed, "This is one of the BCCI
suggestions and it awaits the nod of the IPL board. The player bids
will take place next month."
A top BCCI official added that regular members of the Indian team will
probably make Rs 1.2 crore to Rs 2 crore from the 44-day event, with
the icon players getting the highest amount.
The Future Group too made a late entry. And other bidders included
DLF, Private Equity Fund and Videocon.

Anil Kumble was doubly delighted as his bowlers gave India an edge in
the Perth Test by bundling Australia out for 212 runs in the first
innings, and in the process he crossed another milestone by becoming
the third bowler to take 600 Test wickets on the second day of the
third Test at the Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) ground
here Thursday.
'It is nice to be in a good position after the second day. It was
important for us to play some good cricket after what we have gone
through in the last one week,' said a smiling Kumble, as India took an
overall 170-run lead.
At the close of play, India were 52 for one in the second innings,
Virender Sehwag batting on 29 and night-watchman Irfan Pathan on two.
Earlier in the day, after being bowled out for 330 runs, Indian
seamers rocked the Australian batting by wrapping their first innings
for 212. Rudra Pratap Singh was the most successful bowler with his
four for 68 while Kumble, Pathan and Ishant Sharma picked two wickets
each.
'I am really proud with the way the young seamers bowled. We are a
pretty young bowling side and they bowled brilliantly, and the way
they dismissed the Australian top order was really commendable,' said
Kumble.
The India captain asserted that his team is determined to do well in
Australia after the unfortunate events in Sydney. 'We always wanted to
do well in Australia. We had some opportunities in both Melbourne and
Sydney and also grabbed some of them in Sydney too, but it was
unfortunate for us,' he said.
On his personal achievement, Kumble said: 'When I started, I never
thought I will ever achieve the 600-wicket-mark, but I was confident
that I would play a lot of Test matches, though some people never
thought I could.'
Playing his 124th Test, the 37-year-old captain continues to remain
third in all-time wicket-takers' list. Only world-record holder Sri
Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan (734 wickets in 118 Tests) and retired
Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne (708 in 145) are ahead of him.
Kumble also said that the onus in the current Test would now be on the
batsmen so that they can occupy more time at the crease, as three days
are still left, and give the bowlers a target to help India make it
1-2 in the series.
'We have to bat long and occupy the crease for a longer time so that
we can have the runs on board,' he said.
The Indian captain also admitted that he was bit a surprised with the
turn he extracted on the second day from the Perth track, which is
considered to be one of the fastest pitches in the world.
'I was a bit surprised from the turn I got today. So I think it will
be pretty interesting bowling in the fourth innings,' said Kumble.
By a pleasant coincidence, Dravid also moved up to third spot in the
list of all-time Test catchers. With his 165th catch, Dravid left
retired West Indies captain Brian Lara behind and he is only one short
of second-placed former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming.
Australia's Mark Waugh, who has also retired, holds the world record
with 181 catches in Tests.

As widely predicted, Zimbabwe Cricket has announced that the tour to
Pakistan later this month will go ahead despite fears over the
security situation following the assassination of Benazir Bhutto on
December 27.
The itinerary has been tweaked and one warm-up match dropped, but
Zimbabwe are still scheduled to play five ODIs. "We are definitely
going ahead with the tour," Peter Chingoka, the ZC chairman, told
reporters in Cape Town. "ZC has an obligation to fulfil its
obligations under the Future Tours programme."
Zimbabwe arrive, as before, in Karachi on January 12 and play a four-
day match in the city's DHA Stadium two days later. The first ODI
will now be played in Karachi, on the January 21, as opposed to
Hyderabad which was the initial plan. Hyderabad was badly hit by
violence following Bhutto's death and was in danger of losing out on
a first international match in ten years. But the Pakistan board has
kept the venue in and it is due to host the second ODI on the January
24.
The remaining matches will be played in Multan, Faisalabad and
Sheikhupura, the series ending on February 2.

Hey guys at last we Lost , It was really shamefull to see our Team India
perform against the mighty Aussies . We all know they are tough to beat
but they are beatable but atleast what we all expect from our team is
fight . This match performance was pathetic we played worst then the
Bangladesh team , Infact they would have played better . Our batting
performance was worst , It all seemed that they all were running towards
the dressing room as if their coffee was getting cold in their dressing
room . Nobody played a decent knock . Infact doing postmortem of the
match I feel Rahul Dravid should not open because it gives a negative
effect for the opponents . Infact when Rahul Dravid opens it seems our
batting lineup is weak .
To top it all we failed to score even 200 runs in each innings when our
big four are individually capable of scoring a double century that too
irrespective of the fact which pitch we are playing and against which
Team we are playing .Well guys Hatts Off to Mighty Australians they
proved they are better on and off the field . You can your self see
Australia bowled out India for just 161 on the fourth day to win the
first Test in Melbourne by a convincing 337 runs.
set 499 to win and beginning Saturday's play on 6-0, India lost their
first wicket on 26 and never recovered. Mitchell Johnson claimed three
late wickets as the tourists stumbled their way to defeat on a wicket
which had deteriorated considerably. VVS Laxman (42) and Sourav Ganguly
(40) were the best of a
