Sensex ends below 11,700 on derivatives unwinding

The market finished lower on unwinding of positions in the derivatives segment
due to expiry of August 2006 contracts. Market talk that Stock Holding
Corporation of India had sent letters to brokers asking them to bring cash as
collateral in place of shares in the futures and options (F&O) segment pulled
the market lower in the latter part of the trading session.

The market-breadth was quite weak. For 1,688 shares that declined on BSE, just
827 rose. As many as 72 shares were unchanged. Losers outpaced gainers by a
ratio of 2:1.

The 30-shares BSE Sensex lost 24.87 points (0.21%), to settle at 11,699.05. It
moved in a narrow range for a better part of trading. The S&P CNX Nifty shed
16.45 points (0.48%), to settle at 3,413.90.

ITC, HDFC Bank, Reliance Petroleum (RPL), and Tata Power edged higher due to
short covering in the derivatives segment and due to expiry of August 2006
contracts. ITC gained 2.2% to Rs 191.50, RPL rose 4.6% to Rs 66, HDFC Bank rose
nearly 2%, to Rs 857 and Tata Power advanced 1.2% to Rs 532.50.

IT bellwether Infosys rose 0.3% to Rs 1,805 and software major TCS rose 0.6%, to
Rs 990. However, Wipro shed 1.8% to Rs 516 and Satyam Computer shed 1% to Rs
811.

Housing finance firms bulge

Shares of housing finance companies surged today on a report that home loans saw
strong growth in the past one year.


GIC Housing Finance jumped 6% to Rs 38.75, LIC Housing Finance rose 4.4% to Rs
165, Dewan Housing Finance gained 4.9% to Rs 65.70 and Canfin Homes rose 5% to
Rs 51.85. However, housing finance major HDFC declined 0.7% , to Rs 1,292.

As many as 7.1 lakh shares changed hands in LIC Housing Finance and 4.5 lakh
shares were traded in Dewan Housing. A total of 1.1 lakh shares changed hands in
GIC Housing.

Deepak Fertilizer jumps as new plant starts to function

Deepak Fertiliser & Petrochemicals Corporation rose 1.05%, to Rs 81.50 on
commissioning an isopropyl alcohol plant at Taloja.

As many as 76,527 shares were traded on the BSE.

The stock has rallied from the low of Rs 67.10 on 10 July to Rs 85.50 on 21
August, only to slip to Rs 80.65 by 30 August 2006.

At the current market price of Rs 81.50, Deepak Fertiliser trades at 10.80 times
its FY06 EPS of Rs 8.

Deepak Fertilisers & Petrochemicals Corporation has commissioned its IsoPropyl
Alcohol (IPA) plant at Taloja and commenced delivery of the product to customers
from 28 August 2006. The plant has been completed within the targeted investment
of Rs 154 crore, making the company a very cost-effective IPA producer. The
company is currently the only manufacturer of IPA in India.

IT major Infosys Technologies today entered the elite club of Rs 1 trillion
market-cap firms, joining the ranks with market giants ONGC, Reliance
Industries and NTPC.

The market capitalisation of the country's second largest software exporter
surged to Rs 1,00,148 crore at the end of today's trading session, making it
the fourth company in the Indian capital market with a market cap of over Rs
1 lakh crore.

Based on the intraday share price, Infosys had first breached the Rs 1 lakh
crore m-cap mark on August 22 but failed to sustain the level at the end of
trading session.

PSU major ONGC leads the pack with a market cap of over Rs 1.73 lakh crore,
followed by RIL with a market cap of about Rs 1.55 lakh crore.

NTPC is the third-largest domestic company with a market cap of about Rs
1.02 lakh crore.

Infosys' share price today moved up 0.55%, or Rs 9.95 per share, to close at
Rs 1,808.80 at the Bombay Stock Exchange.

After RIL, Infosys has become the second private sector company to have
gained a market cap of over Rs 1 lakh crore, while other two - ONGC and NTPC
- are PSUs.

IT majors TCS and Wipro have already breached the Rs 1 lakh crore market cap
earlier, but both the companies are currently lagging behind Infosys in
terms of market capitalisation.

Analysis


Background :

Atlanta Ltd (AL), incorporated in 1984 as Atlanta Construction Company
(India) Private Ltd (before that it was a partnership firm), the name was
changed to present in Dec.2004. The company is in the business of
construction, realty infrastructure and mining. Company generates 89% of its
revenue from road projects.
The company has completed many construction projects awarded by Public Works
Department, Airport Authority of India, Municipal Corporations, Military
Engineering Services, and National Highways Authority of India. It has 30
years of experience in infrastructure sector and over a decade experience in
real estate business & mining of coal & limestone.
AL owns and employs modern, specialised and critical equipment like
excavators, dumpers, dozers, WMM sensor Paver, bituminous sensor paver, hot
mix plants, crushing plants, which are essential to execute large projects
effectively.
Upon completion of the issue, promoter's holding will be approximately
70.55% of the post issue equity share capital.


Objects of Issue :

To meet the investment requirements of Rs 429.2mn in Balaji Toll Ways
Limited; a Special Purpose Vehicle incorporated for the execution of the
Nagpur-Kondhali four lane BOT project.
For purchase of plant and machinery for mining, construction and real estate
business activities for Rs.135.64mn.
Investment of Rs.50mn in real estate projects.
Repayment of high cost debt to an extent of Rs.100mn.
To finance incremental working capital requirement of Rs 100mn.


Strengths :


The company has a strong track record of completing projects in the
stipulated time schedule.
AL's sales have grown at a CAGR of 24% for past five years from FY02-FY06.
Net profit has shown higher growth rate of 47.5% for the same period.
AL's ROCE and RONW have been constantly improving since last five years. In
FY06 company's RONW and ROCE was 23.7% & 13.6% compared to 12.7% & 7.8% in
FY02 respectively.
AL will be using Rs.100mn to repay its high interest cost debt. This will
help company to rationalize its interest cost.
Company is present in the construction industry which is witnessing high
growth fueled by the large spends on the ongoing infrastructure development
projects by the Government of India. Over Rs.60,000 crores of investment is
expected to be made in key infrastructure sectors like road, ports, railway
and power plants in the next five years.


Weakness :

AL's debtors/sales ratio has although declined from high of 113% in FY02 to
61% in FY06. It is still very high.
The company has been generating negative operating cash flow for last two
years.
The major portion of company's revenues from mining segment is dependent on
one company, Mahanadi Ltd. The loss of business from this company may
adversely affect AL's revenues and profits.
AL is small in size compared to the industry leaders in road projects, which
can act as a deterrent for being awarded, large projects.
Proceeds of the Issue for investment in BOT/BOOT and joint venture projects
are being raised as per the company's own estimates and have not been
appraised by any Bank/Financial Institution.
Construction companies are highly dependent on timely supply of the
requisite raw materials. Also, prices of key raw material like cement are
firming up which can have an adverse effect on company's profit margins.


Valuation :

AL's operating efficiency and net profit margins have grown substantially in
FY06 from FY05. They are highest compared with its peer group. But, its
debtors to sales ratio, though declining, are very high at around 61% for
FY06.
The company's net worth as on 31st March 2006 is Rs.657.78mn and book value
per share at Rs.44.4 per share (pre equity issue) and Rs.40.4 post equity
issue.
Post issue annualized EPS based on 31st March 2006 earnings is Rs.9.2 per
share. The shares are being offered in the price band of Rs. 130-150. At P/E
range of 13.3-15.7. The average industry P/E is 40.
